What is the Un-A-Blokah Monster challenge?

Genealogists like to ask for information regarding your family. You know the information: those blank family tree charts that we have ALL seen. Please fill out as much as you can to help me get started. This is not my approach, and I do not want that information.

I want to find that information FOR you. The Un-A-Blokah challenge is a challenge for me—to build YOUR family tree using my learned skillset. In taking this approach, I eliminate any family folklore, bias, or preconceived family ideas that might exist—I simply follow the facts.

What is provided to you?

A flash drive containing:

• All documents that can be downloaded (some documents have copy rights and are unable to be downloaded)

• This will also contain the entire tree in ‘gedcom’ format. This allows you to upload this tree to any genealogical site for integration into their software! (Including Ancestry.com, 23andme).

A physical binder with:

• Information related to the individual named, as well as any requested info.

• Pedigree Report: Tracing from the client up to the grandparents & great-grandparents found. There will be a variety of documentation regarding the name of the individual you provided: newspaper articles, censuses, draft registration’s, and other documents that may be found.

• Descendant report: Tracing from the oldest person of the surname to you.

• Kinship report: A document showing how you are related to all the people that have been found.

My Approach.

My curated approach is completely different. I ask for one name, preferably someone a generation or two from you back who is deceased. All that I need is the date of death of this person & their relation to you.

I then take that information to do a preliminary online search and communicate with you to make sure I have the right person. Once verified, I will then build a tree using my resources. I commit to 40 hours of research time, tracked through a timesheet that I will provide. Once 40 hours of research are reached, any further work & cost can be discussed.
